A Touching Final Report from German Students at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh city

“We are deeply grateful to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH) for giving international students, the chance to learn and immerse ourselves in the university’s culture and environment. We will always cherish our time at IUH and proudly say that we were once students of Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.”,
These were the heartfelt words of Saskia Katharina Stary and Mia Thonick, students from Jena University of Applied Sciences, Germany(EAH Jena). They had enrolled in the annual international student exchange and credit transfer program hosted by IUH.

On June 17th, Institute of Technology and Environmental Management, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (Faculty of Science, Technology and Environmental Management) held a closing ceremony for the international student exchange program. This program is also part of the collaborative framework between Jena University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH). It is known that in 2023, three students from EAH Jena participated in the exchange program at IUH, while two IUH students joined the study program at EAH Jena.


Dr. Chau Minh Quang, Vice Director of the Institute of International Education and Postgraduate Studies, and Associate Professor/Dr. Le Hung Anh, Director of the Institute of Science, Technology, and Environmental Management, presented certificates of completion for the academic program to international students at IUH.

After two semesters at IUH, during the final presentation, Mia shared, “I am truly excited and proud to have experienced a very different learning environment, from specialized classes, languages, culture, internships, and student activities at the university. Saskia also expressed, “Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is a very friendly school with dedicated staff and lecturers. The Institute of Environment is a place for specialized learning and practice, with strengths in international cooperation and community connection.This has helped us to better understand the field of environmental studies and the necessity of this field for sustainable development. We also invited our family to travel throughout Vietnam to learn about Vietnamese culture and people.”
The students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to study at IUH and learn about the beautiful and unique country of Vietnam. Saskia added that she plans to return to IUH next academic year to conduct a portion of her Master’s thesis.
Associate Professor/Dr. Le Hung Anh, Director of the Institute of Science, Technology, and Environmental Management, highly commended the students for their efforts in their studies, their active participation in group activities with students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH) and their enthusiasm for immersing themselves in Vietnamese life. The faculty is delighted with the knowledge and skills that they have acquired during their exchange program at IUH and hopes that these experiences will serve as valuable foundations for their future development.
The student exchange program is an academic or cultural exchange initiative, established through collaboration between IUH and partner universities worldwide. This program aims to develop highly skilled global citizens capable of contributing to sustainable development cooperation between Vietnam and its partner countries. Participating students may have their credits transferred, depending on the program’s compatibility. Students accumulate a wealth of experiences, enhance their personal skills, and gain numerous employment opportunities in the future.
