Entry Requirements
ELIGIBILITY
- Complete at least one year of full-time study
- Have intention to receive full workload (no less than 12 credits per semester) for the duration of your study at IUH
- Having GPA of at least 2.5 (on 4.0 scale) or equivalent
- Have a letter of nomination from the home institution as required for exchange students
English Proficiency
No English proficiency assessment is required for students who live in an English-speaking country or study in a tertiary institution where the language of instruction is English.
If you are not from an English-speaking country or if the language of instruction at your institution is not English, one of the following requirements is applied:
- IELTS 5.5 or higher; or
- TOEFL (PBT) 513 or higher; or
- TOEFL (CBT) 183 or higher; or
- TOEFL (iBT) 65 or higher; or
- CEFR Level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference); or
- TOEIC 500 or higher (only for exchange, internship and summer camp program).
Note: English certificates are valid for two years.

How to Apply
Applications Process
Step 1: Select your courses
You can design your Exchange program by selecting courses from across the extensive range of IUH University’s disciplines, as long as you satisfy the necessary prerequisites based on your academic history at your home institution.
Step 2: Seek nomination by your home institution
You must be nominated by your home institution ( The Nomination Letter).
Step 3: Submit your application
Students applying for the exchange program at IUH are requested to send a soft copy of the following documents to Office of Postgraduate Management and International Education by the corresponding deadlines:
- IUH application form (see Appendix 1 for more details)
- 01 copy of passport
- 01 enrollment certificate issued by home university
- 01 general medical check up (issued by any hospital or clinic in your home country)
- 01 nomination letter by home institution
- 01 English Language Certificate
(Students from English native speaking countries or studying in English taught programs in home university do not have to submit English certificate.)
No later than one (01) week upon arrival at IUH, students are required to submit the following original documents to Office of Postgraduate Management of IUH:
- IUH application form
- Passport (for verification)
- 01 passport-sized photo
- 01 medical check up document
- Health insurance certificate
Step 4: Announcement of the admission results
Successful applicants will receive an official IUH offer letter via email. The offer letter will contain important information:
- Admission letters to exchange programmes at IUH
- General information on entry visas, dormitories, health insurance, and study schedules
- application forms for visa, dormitory accommodation, and fellow-student programme
At the same time, international students will be guided by IUH’s exchange programme official through the next steps.

Visa
Foreigners can apply for visas at the Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate in the host country or at the international airport of Viet Nam (Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang Airports).

LIFE AT IUH
- Accomodation:
Dormitories
The current IUH dormitory provides nearly 20,000 accommodations for students. The dormitory rooms are share rooms of 8-10 students per room. The reserved are for international students at the floor G9, 4 students per room, equiped with bunk beds, air conditioner, bathroom, washing machine and free wifi. If the number of students free from dormitoris beyond the limit, they have to pay USD100/month.
Hostel
The University is surrounded by many hotels offering private or double rooms with reasonable price. The average price of a private room is USD 350 per month.
Private accommodation
There are many styles of house for rent and the range of price is large. The average level of a private room is USD 250 per month.
Annually The Student counseling and support center updates the data base of all available houses and send it to exchange students before departure for reference and selection.

Homestay
The opportunity of homestay varies each year depending on the supply. Students can work themselves to sort out any possible places or the The Student counseling and support center will coordinate case by case depending on requirement and demand of students.
- Cost of living
You will prepare at least 6,000,000 VND per month for living costs in Vietnam, including room, meals, textbooks, materials, student activities and personal expenses.
In order to help international students to get on well with life in Vietnam, IUH grant the allowance for international students (only for approved students in specific scholarship program), which equal the expenses of Vietnamese students:
- Food expenses: 1,500,000 VND/month
- Transport expenses: 500,000 VND/month
- Religious life
There are many pagodas, churches and cathedrals around campuses of university and in the centers of cities.
- Medical insurance
To ensure the safety of international students living and studying in Vietnam, IUH provides basic insurance services to foreign students. Students are required to pay for this insurance.
If students purchased international insurance from their home country, the student must ensure that the insurance is valid until the end of the learning period in IUH. IUH preserves the right to require students to present their insurance contract if necessary.
- Buddy program:
IUH offers the Buddy Program, in which new international students will be paired up with current students (Buddy Mentors) who provide the helping hand and friendship to the international new comers at IUH.
Before coming to Vietnam, your buddy will contact you via email to get to know and help you to be well prepared. During your stay and study time in Vietnam, if you have any concerns or problems, do not hesitate to ask your buddy.
- Orientation activities
The Orientation Day will be held for international students during the first week of each semester. The Orientation Day is designed to help international students settle down and get acquainted with life in Vietnam, as well as to help them understand IUH and have opportunities for making friends with Vietnamese and other international students from other countries through picnics and other outdoor activities.
Students are encouraged to fully participate in this orientation, for understanding the university and issues related to studying and living in Vietnam. The picnic in the city center is free of charge. Students only pay for their meals and fees for the picnic away from the city center, if they enroll for it.

- Work opportunities
During their exchange time in IUH, international students can do the following jobs: teaching English for foreign language centers in IUH or Ho Chi Minh City, paid internship in companies.
However, the school encourages international students to participate in extracurricular activities to experience life in Vietnam and learn about Vietnamese culture.
